Hello!
I’m Savannah Storm, a freelance illustrator from North Yorkshire in the UK.
My day-to-day is creating informative illustrations for a variety of projects, including learning trails, maps, recipes and non-fiction books. My clients are often museums, galleries, heritage organisations, small businesses and charities, I love working with people to create engaging visuals for educational topics. I’ll be using this space to share some client work I’ve done, as well as some behind the scenes of my process. Any ideas for things you’d like me to share about this, drop me a message!
I also love drawing from observation in my sketchbooks, and find this informs the way I work - so I’ll be posting lots of snippets from my drawing journals here. I’ve just been on the most incredible trip to Japan and have a full travel sketchbook to share very soon!
Comics are another thing I love to make, as well as non-fiction educational comics I’ve also recently started to write and draw my own fictional narratives, including a short comic ‘At Sea’ (published in BOXES comic anthology) and I’m also working on my own full length graphic novel - which I’m very excited about! It’s about mental health and sea swimming, and I’ll be sharing more about it soon!
I also love making zines, about everything from travel journals, sketchbooks, slice of life comics and recipe ideas. Risograph printing is another passion of mine so any excuse to make a new riso print is right up my street. All my zines and prints are available in my Etsy shop.
Previously I’ve sent out an email newsletter and written a blog on my website, but I’ve decided to combine them here on Substack! That way whenever I write a new post on my blog it’ll also be emailed across to you, a more purposeful version of social media with less scrolling and more soul.
I’ll also be posting lots of sketchbook pages, tips and tricks for drawing from observation, new zines and projects I’m working on, and lots more!
