Care in Comics
A new comic about a carer trying to juggle her daily responsibilities and full time job...
It’s been a while! Summer this year was so busy, and I’ve been working on a few things, including this project I can finally share…
The Care in Comics project was in collaboration with the Centre for Care, and comics editor & producer Gabi Putnoki.
I was tasked with illustrating a 16 page comic about a carer trying to juggle her daily responsibilities and her full time job, and the difference that a supportive workplace made to her life. The narrative was split into two parallel storylines, one with good support at work, and the other with no support.
I also created cover artwork and an extra infographic with further information and statistics about caring.
The timescale of the project was very tight, but I enjoyed the challenge of translating the ideas from the academic team into visuals to bring the story to life!
The comic is being used to take to party conferences to hopefully influence politicians to secure extra funding for carers support. Illustrated comics are a perfect way to present issues like this in an accessible and easy to understand way.
I’d love to work on more comics like this in future!

This is so cool, I'm a firm believer in the power of illustrated non-fiction/informative work.
